About the Dickey Center

Creating Global Citizens at Dartmouth PDF Print E-mail

The transformation of students into global citizens happens on campus as well as off.

The Dickey Center offers an interdisciplinary minor in International Studies, where students explore the interplay between global and local processes by studying the systems - political, economic, social and cultural - that govern human interactions.  The Center also supports the Arctic Institute's Innovative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) graduate program in polar science that seeks to train a new generation of scientists to understand the human/environmental dynamics at the earth's polar regions.

Dickey student programs thrive outside the classroom too. Students in the selective Great Issues Scholars and War and Peace Fellows programs meet with faculty and visiting specialists to discuss vital international issues of the day. The programs provide the unique opportunity for students to enhance their global perspective while connecting with peers around a common set of interests.

The Dickey Center also supports several student-run organizations.  The groups hold regular meetings and organize dinner discussions, film screenings, special events, attend conferences, and even publish special topics journals.  It's easy to get involved and new members are always welcomed.

We invite you to browse through our website, or stop in to see us, to discover what Dickey programs might be right for you!
