Cecil Qiu ‘13: Tanzania PDF Print E-mail

Cecil is a Pure Mathematics major, Anthropology of Global Health minor and pre-med student from Richland, WA. This winter, he will be interning in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for two clinical trials operated by the partnership of the Harvard School of Public Health and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences investigating nutritional effects on placental malaria transmission. Cecil's campus involvements include playing on the Ultimate frisbee team, carrying out research as a Presidential Scholar in the math department, and performing with the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble on drumset. He is also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Most recently, he spent a transfer term studying math in Budapest, Hungary, where he got an ample fix of fascinating math riddles, the world's best bars, and below freezing temperatures. He is very, very excited to start his internship in the summer heat of Dar es Salaam.
