The Dickey Center is Dartmouth’s international crossroads, where diverse cultures, knowledge bases and experiences are brought together to advance international understanding.
We strive to foster an educational, open dialog on the vital international issues of the day, ensure that a rigorous understanding of the world is an essential part of the Dartmouth experience, and prepare students for lifetime engagement in world affairs. In a world marked by globalization and often violent opposition to change, the promotion of international understanding has never been more important and timely.
Our mission is furthered through our own Institute for Arctic Studies, advancing our knowledge and understanding of human and environmental interactions at the earth’s high latitudes, collaborative efforts across the campus such as our work with Dartmouth Medical School on Global Health, and faculty research support ranging from international relations to the dynamics of cultural change. Quarterly Great Issues lectures keep the vital international issues of the day in focus, while our War and Peace Studies programs and curriculum support promote a rigorous and well-balanced understanding of these issues. We bring diverse international voices to Dartmouth and simultaneously our international internships, undergraduate research grants, and faculty research support assure global engagement by sending Dartmouth into the world.
Most of all, we invite you to join us at our international crossroads, for what you have to offer is as valuable as what we can offer you.
