The Dickey Center provides opportunities for Dartmouth students to broaden their international perspectives and their understanding of different cultures by carrying out leave-term projects abroad. In 2007, the Global Health Initiative/Dickey Center established the DARDAR-Dickey Internship to allow up to four students each year to intern with at one or more of our DARDAR Programs or affiliates during a leave-term. The ideal Dickey Center DARDAR International Internship will enrich some aspect of your on-campus academic work and in some way benefit those in the host country. An international internship should also develop your ability to communicate comfortably with persons from other cultures and to understand the processes for addressing international issues that confront nations.

Overview

Applicants must be returning to campus for at least one term after completing the internship.  Internship recipients are required to write a summary when their project has been completed, to be kept on file in the Dickey Center offices.  These reports may be posted on the website and will be made available to other students looking for internship ideas.  Returning interns agree to participate as requested in workshops or information sessions relating to internships in general.
