An
internationally engaged faculty is vital to the Dickey Center mission
of promoting international understanding at Dartmouth. We want to
ensure that faculty working on international research has access to the
materials abroad that will allow them to do their best work. Sharing
this work with colleagues around the world is an important part of our
mission as well.
Travel for Research
Grants are made quarterly to faculty whose research requires them to
travel abroad to access resources not available to them at Dartmouth.
These grants are generally made for research trips of short duration,
and are assessed on the basis of the quality of the proposal, the
likelihood it will lead to publication, and how critical the need is to
conduct research abroad. Requests for support in excess of $5000 will
be shared with our faculty advisory committee. All applications are due
by the Monday of the fifth week of each term, for projects to be
undertaken in the subsequent or following term.
Conference Travel
The Dickey Center offers supplemental travel grants to faculty
presenting papers at international conferences. These funds are
intended to supplement faculty development funds from the Dean of the
Faculty or home department in order to offset the higher costs of
international travel. Grants are currently available up to $600.
Application must be made by the fifth Monday of the term proceeding the
conference dates.
