"Finding Farley" Film and Lecture

"Finding Farley" Film and Lecture - Filmmaker Karsten Heuer shows his film and talks about his family's trek across Canada to find Farley Mowat.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012
4:30pm – 6:00pm
041 Haldeman Center
Intended Audience(s): Public
Categories: Films, Lectures & Seminars
Rather than fly or drive the thousands of kilometers to see Canadian icon Farley Mowat, filmmakers Leanne Allison, Karsten Heuer, and their two-and-a-half-year-old toddler, Zev, paddled, walked, and sailed across the prairies, barrenlands and Maritimes, stringing together the settings of many of Mowat's stories, along the way. Produced by the National Film Board of Canada, their documentary film compares two views of Canada -- one of the iconic Canadian author, the other of the adventuring family told, in part, through the exchange of letters between the two. Heuer and Allison also produced the highly acclaimed film "Being Caribou," about following a herd of caribou as it migrated across Canada.
