Fire, Fury, or Folly: How the Trump administration is handling Iran and North Korea

Wednesday January 17, 2018

4:30pm  |  041 Haldeman  | Free and open to all

Among the greatest foreign policy challenges President Donald Trump has faced thus far involve the nuclear aspirations of North Korea and Iran.  The former top White House non-proliferation advisor to President Obama considers whether behind the twitterstorms aimed at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and threats of withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal, there is a strategy to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and preserve the peace.

Gary Samore, Executive Director for Research at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  Dr. Samore served for four years as President Obama’s White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction and was also Special Assistant to President Clinton and National Security Council Senior Director for Nonproliferation and Export.  Dr. Samore has also been Vice President for Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations Rockefeller Studies Program and, before that, was vice president for global security and sustainability at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago.
