OVERVIEW: The Dickey Center provides opportunities for students to broaden their international perspectives, and their understanding of different cultures, by carrying out leave-term projects abroad. The ideal Dickey International Internship will enrich some aspect of your on-campus academic work. An international internship should also develop your ability to communicate comfortably with persons from other cultures, and to understand the processes for addressing international issues that confront nations. Students should be familiar with the language of the country in which they wish to intern. Applicants must be returning to campus for at least one term after completing the internship. Internship recipients are required to write a 3-5 page summary when their project has been completed, to be kept on file in the Center offices. These reports may be posted on the website and will be made available to other students looking for internship ideas. Returning interns agree to participate as requested in workshops or informational sessions relating to internships in general.
