Positions are: 10-15 hours per week for Fall, Winter, & Spring, $10/hour; available to sophomores or above

Student Organization & Programs Intern

The right student will:

  • Aid in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating many of the services and programs that the Dickey Center coordinates with/for students.
  • Serve as an essential liaison between official Dickey Center student organizations and Dickey Center staff.
  • Spend time each week attending organization meetings, connecting with group leaders, consulting on event & fiscal management procedures, and managing information related to student organizations at the Dickey Center (i.e. funding allocation requests, current officer lists, event schedules, etc.)
  • Co-chair the Student Advisory Board for the Dickey Center, serving as a non-voting member of the board and assisting with meeting scheduling, facilitation, and management, as well as necessary preparation support and follow-up with student organizations.
  • Support the Great Issues Scholars (GIS) program, a year-long program for selected first year students exploring a series of global issues related to health, environment, and security.  
  • Assist in all aspects of the GIS program, from promotion and selection of scholars to event coordination and oversight throughout the year. In this role, the Intern serves in part as a mentor to the scholars as well as a regular presence at scholar events.
  • General assistance with open houses, informational sessions, and other outreach events to the student body about Dickey Center programs.

Student Advisor for International Internships & Fellowships

The right student will:

  • Serve as a key resource to Dartmouth undergraduates considering involvement and funding opportunities through the Dickey Center.
  • Work closely with the Student Programs staff to offer one-on-one advising sessions for those interested in pursuing internships, research and service fellowships abroad.
  • Assist with the development, facilitation, and assessment of Dickey Center pre-departure seminars for out-going Interns/Fellows.
  • Work on planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the Careers in International Affairs program offered throughout the year.
  • Independently develop on-line and hard-copy resources to assist students in navigating and preparing for opportunities abroad.
  • Assist with all aspects of coordination, marketing, and delivery of Dickey Center open houses, informational sessions, and other outreach events to the student body with particular focus on international opportunities.
