  • Ph.D. Candidate Engineering

Austin is a Ph.D. candidate at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. He is working under Professors Laura Ray and Mary Albert on a NASA grant that seeks to ground truth satellite based measurements of the Arctic using autonomous rovers. His research involves the design and improvement of the snow/ice rovers as well as the collection and analysis of ground penetrating radar snow layer data. Ultimately, his research will contribute to a better understanding of how climate change is affecting the Greenland ice sheet as well as test a new method of collecting scientific data in remote and harsh environments.
