Noel Anderson

Karen Tu'89 and Joseph Niehaus '85 Fellow in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Security

Noel Anderson earned his PhD in political science from MIT in 2016. His research explores how inter-state competition affects the dynamics and outcomes of intra-state conflict, with a focus on third-party intervention and proxy warfare. While at the Dickey Center, Anderson will be working on a book manuscript that develops a theory of competitive intervention in civil war to explain temporal variation in the global prevalence of internal conflict. In the summer of 2017, he will be joining the faculty of the Political Science Department at the University of Toronto.
