The Davidson Institute for Global Security is delighted to welcome Anya Gorodentsev as Program Manager. Anya brings five years of experience at the U.S. Department of State, most recently as Country Coordinator for Near East Affairs in the Office of Foreign Assistance Oversight. Prior to that role, she spent three years in the Bureau of International Narcotics & Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), where she managed an aid portfolio focused on justice sector reform and rule of law initiatives in Ukraine — including a temporary duty assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv as Justice Sector Officer.
Anya began her State Department career as an intern in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, supporting both the Office of Central Europe and the Office of Russian Affairs. Before joining State, she held positions at prominent foreign policy institutions including the Center for National Interest and the Woodrow Wilson Center, and served as a Research Assistant at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
Anya holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, where she served as President of the Professionals in Russian, East European and Eurasian Affairs and wrote her capstone on Arctic security. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Russian from the University of Vermont, where she studied abroad in St. Petersburg and captained the NCAA Division I Track and Field Team.
