Earlier this month, Dartmouth transformed into the fictitious nation of Dzikolanga. Led by Liz McClintock, Chair of the Dickey Center Board of Visitors, our Global Health Fellows, War & Peace Fellows, and Great Issues Scholars stepped into a high-stakes multistakeholder simulation designed by Liz herself, drawing on her decades of expertise in international negotiation.
The challenge? Addressing a maternal mortality crisis. Participants didn’t just study policy; they lived it. Assigned roles ranging from Ministry officials to local advocates, they spent the day navigating the friction between political, economic, and religious interests. The goal wasn’t just to talk, but to reach a mutually agreed-upon resolution under pressure. By the end of the day, our undergraduates walked away with more than just a case study—they gained the tactical skills of diplomacy and the grit required for real-world global health leadership.
