Fishere: This Country Should Take Over Gaza—For Now

In the Washington Post, Ezzedine Fishere, a distinguished fellow in Middle Eastern studies and Jewish studies, posits the notion that Egypt should take over and rebuild Gaza in the short term.

Egypt is the only actor with the legitimacy, proximity, and capacity to rescue Gaza from its current spiral and offer its people a life outside siege, war, and despair. It is also the only party trusted enough by both Israel and large segments of the Palestinian population to serve as a custodial power.
