Global Health Initiative Internship Program

The Global Health Initiative (GHI) Internship Program engages students in frontline global health work with our partners around the world. GHI Interns apply knowledge and skills to real world health challenges while building research and programmatic skills. The GHI Internship Program consists of a spring fieldwork seminar followed by a summer internships. All internships are fully funded and pre-approved for the fieldwork requirement for the Certificate in Global Health.

US: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

World Bank Internship

This is a unique internship at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC every Spring Term.  The intern will be based with the Bank’s Social Development unit for West Africa.

Technology & Design for Development

The tools of technology and the principles of design thinking have tremendous promise in human development. Mobile technologies and culturally adaptable methods can expand opportunities for education, provide access to finance, and help entrepreneurs to make informed and cost-effective decisions. Technology initiatives have myriad applications in development, from early warning and emergency response systems for natural disasters, to mobile banking applications that give rural poor access to loans and bank accounts.

Goldstein Internship in Japan

The Goldstein Internship encourages Dartmouth students with an interest in Japan to further their studies by putting their classroom learning into real-world practice. One student a year will be selected to receive funding for an 8-10 week internship in Japan during the leave-term of their choosing.  Funding is available to cover airfare, lodging, and meals. The student may identify their own internship, or may work with the Dickey Center to find a placement.  Examples of previous placements include:

The Dickey Center provides opportunities for students to broaden their international perspectives and their understanding of different cultures by undertaking leave-term projects abroad. Gain new international perspectives by living and working abroad as a Dickey International Intern.
