Visionarios Perú is a non-profit organization that works to address the social determinants of health in underserved communities in Peru. Visionarios employs a rights-based approach to addressing social inequities and gender disparities in poor and marginalized populations. Students will work with Visionarios on ongoing programs, which include community-based public health and education activities in several urban areas of Lima. Additional details on the project for Summer 2018 will be posted shortly.
This opportunity is open to all undergraduate and medical students with an interest in community health, primary health care, rural development, social justice, and global health. Enrollment in one global health course and participation in other global health activities is highly encouraged. Candidates for this position should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, high level of initiative and adaptability, and an ability to live in a resource-constrained environment. Spanish proficiency is required.
Students interested in undertaking an internship must submit a Global Health Internship Program Application. Candidates may preference up to three internship sites during a single application cycle and are required to answer a short supplemental question for each site. Candidates are required to submit transcripts and one to two letters recommendation at the time of application. All applications are due on February 16, 2018 at 5:00 pm.
