Jennifer Lind, associate professor of government, is quoted in Fortune’s recent story on President Trump’s decision to let Nvidia and AMD export AI processors to China in exchange for a cut of their sales.
“Export controls and other sanctions efforts are necessarily multilateral, yet are fraught with collective action problems,” Lind said. “Other countries are often deeply unenthusiastic about telling their firms—which are positioned to bring in a lot of revenue, which they use for future innovation—that they cannot export to Country X or Country Y.”
