JSEP Application 2020

This is the online application for the Joint Science Education Project (JSEP, 2020).

Prior to completing this application, please consider your eligibility and the program requirements.

JSEP Eligibility (no exceptions): Applicant must be a current high school junior (11th grade) and a U.S. citizen.

Instructions: The information you enter into your online application is saved only after it has been submitted.  Therefore, you will need to answer all questions at the time of submission.  To facilitate full completion of the online application, please use this FileWord document template (or the PDF iconPDF template) to fill in your answers, and then copy and paste your proofread answers into the online form when you are ready. We will not accept Word documents sent by e-mail as an application.

To be eligible to participate in JSEP, you must currently be an 11th grade high school student. By checking the box above, you are confirming that you meet this program requirement.

Prior to participating in JSEP, you will need a health evaluation by a physician. JSEP takes place in remote polar environment. Modern amenities (wifi, showers, etc.) may be limited, and students work in outdoor classrooms where the weather can be cold, wet, windy, and can change rapidly. JSEP students travel to high elevations (up to 11,000 feet) at the top of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Students live together in dormitories. Students with severe dietary restrictions or significant food allergies need to be prepared for limited choices. Please see our website for more information about health and safety.

One of the program requirements is that each participating student shares their JSEP experience with their local community.
