Dickey Center Director Daniel Benjamin's recent piece in TIME follows up on the vicious Bastille Day attack in Nice. Benjamin explains the spread of the "democratization of terror."

Mere inspiration from the late Yemeni cleric Anwar Awlaki, who pioneered the call for individual acts of terror whenever and wherever, or from ISIS, which amplified that appeal a hundred fold, suffices," he writes.
