Skye Herrick

YALI MWF Curriculum Program Assistant

Skye Herrick grew up in Upstate New York and is majoring in Economics modified with Geography at Dartmouth.  Before college, she took a gap year to work as an au pair in France for six months and volunteer with preschools in Tanzania for two months.  During her time at Dartmouth, Skye received a Tucker Fellowship volunteer with Ministry of Hope, a community development organization in rural Malawi.  She also interned with The Clothing Bank, a South African NGO that trains unemployed mothers to run small businesses.  Most recently, Skye participated in the Environmental Studies department’s Foreign Study Program in Southern Africa studying the intersection of conservation and development.  At Dartmouth, Skye was a Human Development Fellow at the Dickey Center for International Understanding and has worked as a French Assistant Teacher and a YALI Program Assistant with the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship at Dartmouth.  She is also deeply involved with the Christian community on campus and sings with a Christian a cappella group, X.ado.  Skye is interested in learning languages and hopes to build a career finding evidence-based solutions to development problems in partnership with innovative leaders on the African continent.
