Michael Masterson

2021-22 Postdoctoral Fellow

Michael Masterson is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Missouri State University. His work sits at the intersection of international conflict and political psychology with an area focus on China. His current book project examines when political leaders use national humiliation narratives as a political strategy and the unintended effects of these narratives and the emotions they evoke on foreign policy preferences. He completed his Political Science Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a joint B.A./M.A. in Global Studies along with an additional major in Political Science and a minor in Chinese. His work has been published or is forthcoming in The Journal of Politics and Political Analysis.
