Magro Distinguished Visiting Practitioners

The Initiative brings Distinguished Visiting Practitioners from the fields of peace and security to Dartmouth for week-long to term-long periods.

About the Program

The Dickey Center has brought numerous former high ranking officials to campus for week-long to term-long visits. These visitors often teach courses, meet with faculty, staff, and students, and deliver public lectures. Through the Magro Family Distinguished Visitors in International Affairs program the Center has welcomed such luminaries as former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson, former State Department Director of Policy Planning (and current National Security Advisor) Jake Sullivan, and former BBC correspondent and author Philip Short to campus. The Initiative for Global Security will continue to support this type of programming and will provide for more opportunities to bring security practitioners to Dartmouth to help translate academics and research to policy.
