The Powering Peace project joined partners from the UAE and Norwegian Missions to the UN, Energy for Peace, and the Stimson Center to launch a new report: “Renewable Energy and Peace in the Central African Republic” by Romain Esmenjaud and Sophie Rutenbar, with David Mozersky.
The first comprehensive assessment of how energy access shapes peacekeeping in CAR, the report highlights opportunities for MINUSCA to transition to renewable energy solutions — advancing the Climate, Peace and Security agenda and strengthening long-term stability.
We have found time and again that renewable energy can offer operational benefits for UN missions. It’s a cheaper & cleaner alternative to the status quo reliance on diesel generators.
