War & Peace - Education and Outreach

The Dickey Center brings a number of prominent political figures, military experts, civilian leaders, and academic scholars to campus to discuss issues of war and peace.

We also support the course War and Peace in the Modern Age, which stresses the study of both the global state system as well as the human condition as essential to understanding the phenomenon of collective violence.

Recent public speakers and panels have covered diverse and controversial issues such as nuclear proliferation, the rise of China, conflict prevention, transnational crime, citizen responsibilities in wartime, refugees, post-traumatic stress disorder, the use of torture, and U.S. policy in Iraq.

The aim of our public programs is to spark open dialogue embracing a variety of viewpoints on the major conflicts of our time. Most of our events are open to students, faculty, staff and the public, but for popular events, students receive preferential seating.

If you would like to be on our mailing list and receive advance notice of events, please email the Dickey Center
