The Lola Fellowship
The Lola Fellowship provides an award to a recent graduate embarking on a post-graduate endeavor in global health and development. It is intended to support internships, research, or work projects that offer meaningful, hands-on engagement in global affairs but are not highly compensated.
Rooted in Place: Witnessing Health Systems Strengthening from the Ground Up
As the Dickey Center for International Understanding’s inaugural Lola Fellow, Abbey Savin ’24 is completing a year in Nepal moving from the world of global health policy into the realities of maternal health program implementation. Working alongside One Heart Worldwide’s Monitoring and Evaluation team, she brought a qualitative, policy-focused lens to the organization’s Network of Safety model, traveling from the lowland terrain of Madhesh to the mountains of Karnali to see how care reaches mothers across the country’s geographic and cultural diversity.
In Memoriam
The Lola Fellowship was created in loving memory of Lola Adedokun ’03, an esteemed Dartmouth alumna and devoted member of the Dickey Center’s Board of Visitors. Lola’s passing in October of 2024 was a profound loss to the Dartmouth community.
The fellowship stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to leadership, innovation, and global health and development, and supports the next generation of Dartmouth students pursuing those same ideals.
Eligibility/ Requirements
The Lola Fund is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates:
- A clear vision for a post-graduate pursuit in a Global Health or Development related field extends beyond traditional graduate school.
- A strong academic record and a demonstrated commitment to intellectual curiosity.
- A passion for making a positive impact on the world.
