Below are some activities and steps to consider as you map out your career in international affairs. Note: this isn’t necessarily linear — you can jump down the list for any given year and do whatever you find appealing — and there are usually no pre-requisites for steps along the way.

YEAR 2
Join the Global Health Fellows
The Global Health Fellows program brings together students from across Dartmouth in an ongoing exploration of global health issues.
Explore Local NGOs to Volunteer
Make an appointment to explore ahow you can serve the Upper Valley community by volunteering at local health and development NGOs.
Work with GH Faculty Research
Work with Dartmouth faculty in part-time research assistantships. Students receive a fellowship stipend of $1,600 at the end of the completed term of research.
Apply for Davis, Goldwater, Boren or Truman Scholarship
Dartmouth’s Fellowship Advisors are available to meet with applicants to discuss opportunities and give advice and feedback on application materials.

Consider federal post-bacc postions in research, policy, surveillance, response, and communications.
Apply to Peace Corps
Peace Corps Volunteers put their purpose, passion, and skills to work in partnership with host communities in more than 60 countries.
Apply to Dickey Post-Bacc Positions
Each year, the Dickey Center hires two Fellows to work closely with senior leaders in the Dickey Center on specific projects, conduct research and analysis on key global and international issues, and serve as a primary resource for selected finance and administrative functions.
Apply for a Dickey Post-Graduate Fellowship
Post-grad Fellowships like the Lola and Lombard Fellowships support graduating seniors and first-year Dartmouth alumni, including the professional schools, in public service projects in the U.S. and globally.
Apply for a Dartmouth Post-Graduate Fellowship
Dartmouth postgraduate study fellowships provide support to graduating seniors and alums (within 5 years) who plan to matriculate in a graduate degree program the following academic year.
