McLaine Leik ’27

McLaine Leik is a ’27 from Chicago, Illinois, majoring in History and minoring in Government and French. She is passionate about studying international security, and plans to pursue a career in foreign policy. In addition to her work with the War and Peace Fellowship Program, McLaine is a James O. Freedman Presidential Scholar, assisting Dartmouth History Professor Jennifer Miller’s research on Japanese-American trade in the late 20th century. McLaine has been involved with the Dickey Center since her freshman year, first as a member of the Great Issues Scholars Program, then serving as a Student Manager her sophomore year. McLaine spent the summer before her sophomore year studying Middle Eastern politics at the London School of Economics, and authored an article entitled “Those Bloody Yankees’: Churchill’s Role in Building the WWII Anglo-American Relationship,” selected for publication in the Dartmouth Undergraduate Historical Review Summer 2025 Edition. In her free time, McLaine is a member of the Dartmouth Varsity Field Hockey Team, Dartmouth Women in Law and Politics, and SIBS Youth Mentoring Program.
