Working with Professors Paul Novosad and Mahounan Yedomiffi. Xinyu Ni supports a portfolio of projects focused on education, gender, and financial systems, all central to questions of security and resilience. She contributes to a descriptive study in India on residential segregation and intergenerational educational mobility in India, an experimental study on the role of female role models in shaping girls’ aspirations for STEM careers in Benin, a pilot study in West Africa testing parental engagement strategies to reduce barriers for girls’ schooling, and an evaluation in Benin of digital tuition payments that could strengthen household investments in education while improving transparency. Working with Professors Paul Novosad and Mahounan Yedomiffi, Ni’s statistical analysis provides critical evidence on how residential segregation, education systems, family dynamics, and financial technologies contribute to more secure and inclusive economic futures.
Xinyu graduated from Amherst College in 2023 with a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics. Before Dartmouth, she worked as an analyst at an economics consulting firm. Born and raised in Hebei, China, and later in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Xinyu identifies as a first-generation college student and immigrant.
