Dr. Claire Wagner ’10

Dr. Claire Wagner (D’10) is CEO of Avenir Management Partners, a strategic advisory firm dedicated to catalytic problem-solving in health—for people and the planet. Previously, Claire served as Head of Corporate Strategy & Market Access at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute, where she led global access and advanced strategic partnerships for pharmaceutical products in development. Earlier in her career, she worked in Rwanda for the Minister of Health supporting national healthcare initiatives from radiation oncology to vaccine rollouts to health workforce development. With the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Union for International Cancer Control, she later coordinated a global effort that led to the 16-drug expansion of the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for cancer in 2015. Over the past decade, she has advised pharmaceutical companies, nonprofits, and multilateral organizations on improving access to healthcare, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. Claire is an Associate Scientist in Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications. She holds an MD from Harvard Medical School and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Claire completed her BA at Dartmouth College where she was an intern at the Dickey Center.
