Global Health Fellows

Global Health Fellows engage in regular, directed, and co-curricular activities in global health methods, equity, access, security, and leadership.

As a Global Health Fellow, you will interact with a diverse community of faculty, students, and global health practitioners around the world to discuss how individuals, groups, and institutions can best address the complex global challenges around health and wellness, human rights, health security, planetary health, health diplomacy and other topics. Issues of health disparities and structural inequities in global health systems are central to all of these discussions.

The program runs from fall through spring term.

Activities and Retreats

You will attend at least one of the two weekend retreats, one at the start of Fall term and the other at the start of Winter term. You will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and community building activities. The focus of the retreats is to encourage and guide you to think critically about global health issues and how to advance collaborative solutions with and for global partners.

Speaker Series and Discussions

You will build your skills and knowledge by engaging with global health leaders, participating in skills sessions and learning from each other.

Methods Workshops and Simulations

Each term, you will engage in a diversity of methods workshops and practical simulations, ranging from public health data visualization to pandemic response strategies. These workshops and simulations bring together students and faculty to engage in multidisciplinary learning and problem solving.

Experiential Education Opportunities

You will enjoy access to a wide range of resources as they pursue experiential education and service opportunities, internships, independent research projects, and other endeavors related to global health. The GHFellows program helps to connect fellows with potential opportunities and advice and support fellows in the pursuit of internships and other programs.

Certification

If selected as a Global Health Fellow, you do NOT need to achieve certification to attend programming throughout the academic year.  To receive annual certification as a Global Health Fellow, applicants must:

• attend EITHER the Fall or Winter Retreat,
• attend at least seven other GHF events over the academic year, and  
• engage in and complete at least one community health project, submitting one paragraph summary of the project
