Our War & Peace Fellow Prescott Herzog '25 will be joining the 2023-24 Presidential Fellows Program at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. He will research the internal decision-making process and national security implications of the Biden Administrations' CEQ-OSTP memo of November 2022 requiring that Indigenous Knowledge systems be incorporated into all federal agency research, policy, and decision-making.
[more]A five-institution collaborative co-led by Dartmouth's Institute of Arctic Studies (IAS) has been awarded a two-year, $300,000 grant from the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to inform and influence the future of Arctic research through an innovative, Indigenous-led, Indigenous Knowledge engagement process.
[more]In June 2023, with support from the Dickey Center, nine members of the Dartmouth Student Alliance for Ukraine (DSAU) traveled with faculty advisor Victoria Somoff to New York City to meet Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Nations. The student's discussion with the Ambassador touched on the role of the UN Security Council with regards to the war in Ukraine, the role of Ukrainian activists on college campuses, and opportunities for students interested in careers in diplomacy.
[more]I write to express my deep appreciation to the Magro Family Foundation for making it possible for me to spend the spring term at Dartmouth. After several intense years in Somalia, I relished the opportunity to step away from crisis diplomacy for a few months. The Dickey Center offered an ideal place to review the latest academic research, debate new public policy proposals, and -- perhaps most rewardingly -- interact with the impressive next generation of leaders among the Dartmouth students.
