The Dickey Center invites you to join us for a student, faculty, and alumni shared read and panel discussion on The Blue Sweater by Jacqueline Novogratz, a must-read for anyone passionate about issues of poverty and development. This story is the inspiring tale of a woman who left a career in banking to spend her life striving to understand and tackle global poverty. She details, in ways both hilarious and heartbreaking, how traditional charity often fails but how a new form of philanthropic investing called “patient capital” can help people become self-sufficient and can change millions of lives.
The event is open to Great Issues Scholars, residents of the Global Village, and the Dartmouth Class of 1957 who have generously gifted these books through their Great Issues Innovations Funds. For those unable to attend in person, please click on the live stream below, and look for us on the Dickey Center's YouTube channel following the event.
