Rosenwald Fellow Dani Gilbert on Brittney Griner's Imprisonment
2022-23 Rosenwald Postdoctoral Fellow Dani Gilbert has written and been interviewed frequently about WNBA star Brittney Griner's detention in Russia. Professor Gilbert is an expert in the causes and consequences of hostage taking in international security. Recently, she has been interviewed on NPR's Weekend Edition, CSPAN's Washington Journal and ESPN's Outside the Lines. She also has been quoted extensively in an article for Insider and wrote an op-ed for USA Today.
2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Enrichment Institute
The Dickey Center, along with other campus partners, will host 25 Mandela Washington fellowship alumni from 18 African countries this summer. The two-week Alumni Enrichment Institutes will leverage experiential and discussion-based learning to provide Participants with broadly applicable knowledge about U.S. culture and society and immerse them in a U.S. community through community service, cultural exchange, strategic networking, and site visits.
