John Hobbie is the former co-director of the Ecosystems Center at Woods Hole. He was named a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and received the Redfield Award from the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography. He is an aquatic ecologist whose research center on discovering the activities of microbes in nature. He is a lead PI of the Arctic Long-Term Ecological Research Site at Toolik Lake Alaska.
