    I write to express my deep appreciation to the Magro Family Foundation for making it possible for me to spend the spring term at Dartmouth. After several intense years in Somalia, I relished the opportunity to step away from crisis diplomacy for a few months. The Dickey Center offered an ideal place to review the latest academic research, debate new public policy proposals, and -- perhaps most rewardingly -- interact with the impressive next generation of leaders among the Dartmouth students.

    On July 6, 2023, Dr. Melody Brown Burkins, Director of the Institute of Arctic Studies and Dr. Morgan Seag, Global Mountains Director for the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI), presented to the Circle of UN Women Ambassadors on climate change at a meeting co-hosted by Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra to the United States of America, Elisa Vives Balmaña, and Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN, Mrs. Aida Kasymalieva.

  • Glaciers in Retreat: Dr. Eric Hatch '68

    Glaciers in Retreat

    The Institute of Arctic Studies in the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding is hosting the photographic exhibit, "Glaciers in Retreat," by award-winning photographer and Dartmouth alum, Dr. Eric Hatch (D'68), in the Haldeman Center's Russo Gallery. The exhibit will be up through August 10, 2023, and free and open to the public.  We are looking forward to a visit to the gallery by Dr. Hatch and his Class of '68 during their upcoming 55th reunion events on campus.
