First established in 1986, US-Canadian Studies at the The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding honor the historic alliance and global importance of this North American partnership. 

McCulloch Program on Canadian-American Relations

In 2020, the Dickey Center was honored to establish the McCulloch Program on Canadian-American Relations through a generous gift from Dorothy and Norman "Sandy" McCulloch Jr., '50. In its first year, the McCulloch Program has immediately catalyzed new scholarship and engagement with Canadian institutions, alumni networks, and students across disciplines.

US-Canada Student Internship Opportunities

The US-Canada Internship Program was established in Spring 2020 and continues to be offered each term to Dartmouth undergraduates.   • Powering the Future in a New Energy World: A US-Canada Dialog
    In December 2020, the Dickey Center partnered with the Canada Alumni Regional Committee, the Irving Institute for Energy and Society, and the Revers Center for Energy at Tuck to discuss future of energy policy in both nations

  • US-Canada Science and Diplomacy in the Arctic Leadership Workshop was launched by Dickey Center Associate Director Melody Brown Burkins as part of a UArctic Model Arctic Council event with the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Canadian partners. 

  • Fulbright Arctic Initiative (FAI) In 2015, the inaugural Fulbright Arctic Initiative was co-created and co-led by Dr. Ross Virginia, Director of Institute of Arctic Studies, with support from both U.S. State Department Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and Fulbright Canada.
